Philippine banks and remittance pickup counters operate on local holidays at reduced hours. Cash pickup is often unavailable on regular holidays such as Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Day. Even digital channels can see delays: GCash and Maya cash-in/cash-out partners (e.g. 7-Eleven, sari-sari stores) may also close or limit transactions on holidays.
A simple rule: send 5β7 days before the holiday. This gives your family a buffer to withdraw, deposit, or spend before the long break starts. The biggest pinch points are the Holy Week stretch (early April) and the ChristmasβNew Year break (late December to early January).
